Jacques Villeneuve has been brutally critical of McLaren, and not without reason. Ever since it was finally decided that the Papayas had lost their individual world championship title, they have been claiming that it was always secondary to them...
That is, to put it mildly, not professional, at this level it is rather ridiculous, which Villeneuve could not leave unnoticed:
"McLaren said something incredible after the Brazilian Grand Prix because they started talking about how the priority for them is not the individual title, but the constructors' title. And that's always been the case... That's more than strange, because only sworn losers say things like that, and therefore McLaren is a loser. I accept that there is money in the constructors' title, but in reality that's all, nobody cares who wins it.
"In the end, people will only remember who won the drivers' championship, and in their eyes the team championship is won by the one who won the individual championship. The constructors' championship is for the experts and the wallets, it looks good on paper, but I say it again: nobody cares... It's a shame about this mentality because they're having a great season and just to have made Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing fight is a great achievement," Villeneuve declared with his usual candor.
