Events in Austin are happening quickly, as after the sprint race, qualifying for the US Grand Prix took place just a few hours later, and was won by Lando Norris.
Q1 was dominated by the trio of Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Sergio Perez on the first fast lap. However, a few minutes later Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz took the lead, and eventually Verstappen, Leclerc and the return of Liam Lawson finished in the top 3 in Q1. Among the big surprises were Lewis Hamilton, two Williams cars and the Stake Alfa Romeo cars.
In Q2, Norris, Verstappen, Piastra showed the way, and in the end, Verstappen, Sainz and Norris made it to the top three. The track conditions were constantly improving, the battle was getting tougher, and at this stage, qualifying for the US Grand Prix practically seemed to be a three-man race. However, for the two VISA RBs, Lance Stroll, Esteban Ocon and Nico Hülkenberg, there was no continuation, they said goodbye to further competitions.
After this came the decisive Q3, before which it was almost impossible to guess who would be the winner! Accordingly, at the end of the first attempts the order was Norris, Verstappen, Sainz, but there was an almost unimaginably small time difference between the leading duo. Verstappen started the last fast lap with a sensation, but was no longer able to convert his speed into a result, as qualifying was "interrupted" due to George Russell's accident.
All of this meant that Lando Norris took pole position ahead of Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz!
