Is it so that a racer who messes up the starting procedure gets a fine of X, and another who swears gets double that? All of this is already getting in the way of the organizations representing the racers!
The FIA has been going overboard with nonsense lately, and not just among fans. The racing association, led by George Russell, sent an open letter to the FIA president:
"We are professional drivers who race in Formula 1, the pinnacle of international motor sport. We are gladiators, we offer a special program to the fans every race weekend. When it comes to obscene language, there is a huge difference between when we want to offend someone and when, for example, we use inappropriate words about the weather, or our inanimate cars, or when we make inappropriate comments about the racing situation."
"We would therefore like to ask the FIA President, Mohamed ben Sulayem, to consider his tone and language when communicating with us or about us, regardless of whether it is a private conversation or a public forum. We are adults who do not need to be instructed through the media, especially not on such mundane matters as what to say, or what to wear, or what not to wear..." - Russell and his team spoke out sharply.
