It's been a long time since the announcement of Carlos Sainz's release, which sometimes causes a storm, as the Spaniard decided to leave Scuderia Ferrari during perhaps the best season of his life.
Many think the team is to blame, but now Carlos Sainz senior has spoken out, saying that Lewis Hamilton is more to blame for the events than the red team:
"Ferrari was very happy with Carlos, but he couldn't stay there because Hamilton offered himself to the team. He was the one who approached Ferrari, not the other way around. That's why this story has developed this way, but there's no point in mourning it. What bothers me, however, is that Carlos is not getting the respect and recognition he deserves based on his abilities. He's had his best season, we're seeing his best version right now and he'll only continue to develop. He's a racer who's becoming more complex every year, but he'll have a difficult time at Williams. The team was second to last among the constructors, but he's still very motivated. It was difficult to process his situation during the season, including the fact that Mercedes and Red Bull Racing didn't choose him, but you'll see what he's capable of..." - said the elder Sainz with disappointed pride.
