After the Mexican Grand Prix, many are scratching their heads as to whether Carlos Sainz will really leave at the end of the season. He will indeed leave, Lewis Hamilton will take his place, but Sainz is handling it all professionally, with his head held high.
And he makes his departure more beautiful with victories. What's more, he would like to say goodbye to the Scuderia Ferrari team by winning the Constructors' Championship:
"It's been a very special, challenging year for me. It started hard, we weren't really competitive, development was difficult, and then suddenly we got to where we wanted to be. Suddenly we were candidates for victory again, but Charles Leclerc took advantage of those opportunities, but I also really wanted to win. I felt like I didn't want to leave Scuderia Ferrari without a victory. At the beginning of the year it would have been easy to lose my motivation, my desire to continue with all this. But luckily, that's when I had a three-week break, during which I was able to regenerate and become determined again. In the last five or six races I was able to get excited, I improved my driving performance, I have more confidence in the car and I'm proud of how I managed it. Now I'm just focused on winning the Constructors' Championship. That would be the perfect farewell for me!" - declared the Spanish champion.
