It looks like Formula 1 could draw inspiration from the Brad Pitt movie for an interesting innovation.
Anyone who has been to any motor racing event will have seen teams manually pushing cars back into the pits, either after scrutineering or from parc fermé. The same applies to pit stop practice, which in F1 usually takes place on Thursday media day. Here, the mechanics are divided into two groups, one group simulates parking and pushing the car, while the other changes the wheels and the support cones. In the Brad Pitt-produced film, these scenes were filmed with a replica of an electric car that was built exclusively for this purpose. Pitt has now said that the teams envy this idea and are now considering installing an additional battery that would be installed only and exclusively at these pit stop practice sessions. This would reduce the need for manpower and make the simulation more realistic thanks to the higher arrival speed.
An interesting idea that could doubly write the film crew into Formula 1 history / PITTstop :) /?
