Although we didn't really believe it a few months ago, it is now increasingly likely that Sergio Pérez's Formula 1 career is not ending, but is just being put on hold.
It is clear that if a racer has a chance anywhere, it is in the upcoming Cadillac stable, which is still waiting for official approval from the FOM and the FIA. However, in the background, intensive work is already underway at all levels, 2026 is very close and, as we know, no racing car goes without a racer. On this basis, Sergio Pérez appears, who is allegedly not slacking off and is already in advanced negotiations with the Andretti team. The Americans, as new participants, certainly place an emphasis on experience and are therefore working with Ferrari on the issue of propulsion, before the General Motors team takes over this area in 2028. For Cadillac, the American influence is important, not only in the name, but also in the financial background and in the identity of the racers, while thinking locally.
The Andretti family will play an important role in the selection of the racing line-up and the Pérezs are known to have good relations with them. Therefore, anyone who bets on the Sergio Pérez - Colton Herta racing duo, which enjoys immense popularity on the other side of the ocean, is not taking much of a risk.
