Yuki Tsunoda's situation, which looked promising a few days ago, turned into drama today, as Red Bull Racing openly said they would let him go.
This was said by none other than Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing team principal, its all-powerful boss and decision-maker:
"We are fully aware that if we cannot give him the opportunity to progress, then I really don't see the point in keeping him. We have not been able to move him up to the senior team and we cannot afford to keep him in our youth team for many more years. We have to let him go at some point so he can look for a better opportunity. Of course, we cannot completely rule out the possibility that he will still have a chance to progress, as well as that Racing Bulls will be more competitive than in previous years."
I spoke to Yuki, he accepted it, he stayed motivated, he wants to show that he will be the boy who can get the most out of RB. What we are doing is we are helping them technically, next year they will also get our rear suspension and gearbox. I hope the team will move forward, mature and things can change very quickly... For example, would anyone think that in less than a year Liam Lawson will be our driver in 2025? This is the kind of sport and he realises that, he knows that he has to show that we can rely on him.” - said Christian Horner about Yuki Tsunoda.
If we were Tsunoda, we wouldn't even wait for tomorrow with this team...
