The weekend's F1 World Championship race will bring exciting moments, especially from a Japanese perspective. Because local fans won't just see Yuki Tsunoda take to the track.
Another youngster will get a chance, namely Toyota WEC driver Ryo Hirakawa, who could dance with Alpine 2025. Hirakawa could take Jack Doohan's seat during FP1 of the Japanese Grand Prix and it won't be completely unfamiliar territory for him to sit behind the wheel of Formula 1, having already gained experience with Oscar Piastra's McLaren in Abu Dhabi last year.
"I'm incredibly excited and looking forward to driving the A525 in the first free practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix. 18 years ago, in 2007, I was at Fuji watching the Japanese Grand Prix, and soon I'll be able to experience firsthand what it's like to drive in front of my fanatical compatriots. It'll be a dream come true, I'm really looking forward to it!" said Hirakawa.
