Juan Pablo Montoya rarely makes an appearance, but when he does, he always has a good reason. This time is no different, as he couldn't let the performance of former F1 driver Carlos Sainz go unnoticed.
But the situation Montoya was talking about is not just about one person, as it also involves Franco Collapinto, who entered Formula 1 as a comet. The Colombian racer did not forget him and included him in his statement:
"If I were Christian Horner or one of the Red Bull bosses now, I would immediately go to Williams and tell them that if they are happy with Colapinto, let them keep him and let Sainz come to us. Franco would also benefit if he did not immediately face such a big challenge as Max Verstappen. He would perhaps represent an even bigger risk than Sergio Perez. He has the experience, he has victories, he knows the conditions. But let's remember what happened with Alexander Albon, how he crashed... And that's where Carlos Sainz comes in. He would be a challenge for Verstappen, a huge boost in the fight for the constructors' titles, plus they would have a financially advantageous deal with him.
"If I were in Horner's shoes, I would choose Sainz, not Collapinto," said Montoya, probably expressing the feelings of many fans.
