The weekend started badly for Scuderia Ferrari at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where the Reds are fighting for nothing less than the Constructors' World Championship title.
They were already at a disadvantage in this race, in two ways… While the driver got food poisoning at the final drivers’ dinner, his car battery failed. After all, it all started as a dream, as Charles Leclerc was able to take to the track with his brother Arthur:
"It all started last night when I got food poisoning. I didn't sleep all night, I was so tired, I couldn't think about anything else but when I would finally get to bed. The day started off really hard... I didn't really feel like getting in the car, but I was so motivated, we could drive together with Arthur. This was a dream come true, for which our whole family came here, so I couldn't miss it."
When it turned out that we had problems with the battery and it would need to be replaced, I thought about a lot of things. First of all, I could lose the opportunity to be on the track with my brother on the Formula 1 weekend. Then there is the constructors' championship… We have to start from tenth place, so the weekend has become much more difficult. But overall I see it as a challenge! I feel a little better, I will sleep well at night and come back with charged batteries. What we need is a great tomorrow and a great Sunday!” – declared an unhappy Charles Leclerc.
