Lewis Hamilton recently admitted that from a career development perspective, it would be a bigger risk to stay at Mercedes, which has barely shown any progress for years.
So he followed his instincts and ended up at Scuderia Ferrari...
"Basically, every new opportunity is a leap into the unknown. No one knows in advance what the future will bring, when you change jobs or teams, it is always associated with risk. But I believe that the really big risk is if you get stuck in a situation that is comfortable, because that only makes you arrogant."
Based on that - let's call it instinct or even feeling - I joined Scuderia Ferrari. I wanted a challenge because that's exactly what I need right now. There are amazing people waiting for me here, an amazing opportunity, I'm really looking forward to working together and I believe that together we can achieve something truly extraordinary.
Every year is a new beginning for me. Even in the times when I was winning all the time, I knew it was a condition and that nothing was guaranteed in the future. I have to fight hard every day to succeed, to get into the car every day as a better driver. My feelings and this approach have brought me to a place where I have achieved much more than I ever thought I was capable of.” - Lewis Hamilton reflected on his situation.
