Unusual news - thank God, this time in a positive context - has made its way into the news of the world-famous Belgian racing circuit.
King Philippe of Belgium has announced that this year the Kingdom of Belgium is putting into circulation a coin that pays tribute to one of the most famous, if not the most famous, circuit in the world.
It is common practice in countries using the euro to issue two new 2-euro coins with a new design each year. The obverse commemorates important themes related to the issuing country or Europe.
The King's statement also states that the reverse of the "Spa-Francorchamps Euro" will feature the circuit's track, with two numbers on the left: 7004 and 1921. The first apparently symbolizes the current number of the circuit, the second is the year it opened, when the first race was held there. No information has yet been released about the (official) design of the coin, but you should definitely be on the lookout: you could get a wonderful Formula 1 souvenir, and it's free!
