Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has spoken harshly to Lewis Hamilton. He claims that it is not worth it for Hamilton to count on a long-term stay in Italy.
Perhaps it has "something to do" with the traditions of Scuderia Ferrari, Maranello is not a place where they would necessarily be enthusiastic about Hamilton's stupid, celebrity-like moves. According to Ecclestone, it also does not strengthen the Briton's position:
"His contract runs until 2026, but he won't use it all. Piero Ferrari got him there and he thinks he's helped the team, I hope he doesn't regret his decision. I hope they don't say we'd rather not do it... One thing is age, the other is competitiveness. I think Lewis is actually tired, he's definitely not as motivated as he was before. If he hadn't had a single world title, maybe the situation would be different, that would drive him. But he's already got seven. The second root of the problem lies in his past actions.
"He's certainly done a lot of things that people may not like him for. I don't understand why someone would dress like that as a world champion and a millionaire, I don't like it very much, it's not appropriate. I don't understand why he keeps doing this stupid thing... He's obviously a talented driver, but he's very overrated," Ecclestone said sharply of Hamilton.
