This time, Giedo van der Garde offered some harsh words to the suffering seven-time world champion, warning: There is very little he is showing compared to Charles Leclerc.
But according to the Dutchman, there is a bigger problem, and that is that Lewis Hamilton seems to be losing all his confidence. This will push him further down the slope:
"In Jeddah we saw what we've seen so far. He had no speed, zero. Leclerc was taking a second and a half to two seconds off him per lap, then they handed him over with a 30-second gap. I don't think he really knows which way he's going, he's actually in serious trouble. His loss is too great and it's looking increasingly like he won't be able to carry this load on his own. In addition, his confidence seems to be fading too, which is completely unusual for him...
"This bodes very badly for the rest of the season. He is a driver who needs confidence and faith in the car, and these two things are absolutely absent from him. I don't think he will be able to solve this situation... As I said, if you get 30 seconds from your teammate, it can be very demoralizing. Apart from the Chinese sprint qualifying, he has always finished behind Leclerc, by a significant margin. Leclerc has got into his head and he will not get away from there easily." - assessed Giedo van der Garde.
