From a European perspective, there was nothing surprising at all in the Chinese grand race, which started at a not-so-friendly interval. But there was something historic!
Lewis Hamilton had a perfect start, as did the entire peloton, which got to the start without any problems. A few moments later, Lando Norris, who was in third place, attempted a too bold maneuver and dropped to ninth place. However, Yuki Tsunoda was better accustomed to the rhythm, and by the third lap he was already in sixth place - probably not only for the sake of valuable points, but also for the sake of places in Red Bull Racing... Meanwhile, Liam Lawson modestly took 18th place with a controversial overtake. At the top, Hamilton maintained his one-second lead over Max Verstappen, but on the eighth lap the Dutch forward got close. However, in the end, nothing came of the action, and instead of overtaking, Verstappen had to watch out for Oscar Piastri, who was approaching from behind. At this point, the queues had already frozen, we could practically see only a train on the track. In the end, Piastri overtook Verstappen, but he did not have time or tires to catch up with Hamilton. Thus, the British driver won his first major race and achieved victory for Scuderia Ferrari ahead of Oscar Piastre and Max Verstappen.
