The former Scuderia Ferrari team boss claims the Italian team made a mistake signing Lewis Hamilton. But in his opinion, Hamilton made a great deal!
Binotto returned to Formula 1 this year as CEO of Audi, but he will always remain a Ferrari fan somewhere. He thinks Fred Vasseur made a mistake in signing Hamilton, as he should have focused much more on the talent of Charles Leclerc:
"Hamilton did very well to join Ferrari, I agree with his decision. If I had to decide on this issue, I would not invite him to the team because I think we should focus on younger drivers. There is a talented Leclerc, I think we should achieve big goals with him.
I have been a Ferrari fan since childhood and our shared past cannot be erased. I still have many photographs and objects from that period in my home. But professional decisions do not always balance emotions, you need to be able to separate them. Despite this, I still look forward to Ferrari winning, I have many nice friends there, and then I feel that I have contributed a little to their success,” said Binotto.
