This is the statement of the team principal, Mattia Binotto. The team, which will join Formula 1 in 2026, does not want to sit around for long, but wants to win the title by the end of the decade.
It's a tough commitment, but with the production background behind the project, it's entirely possible:
"We don't have to climb just any mountain, we have to climb Mount Everest itself. It will take a few years to be really successful, but our goal is clear: we want to compete for the title at the end of the decade. At the moment, there is still a big difference between us and what I saw at Ferrari, I can say that there is a gap. Infrastructure, staff numbers, thinking, we have to create a big team from a small one. Our performance in 2024 is exactly what it is because we are no longer focused on 2024, but on 2026. Our work, our development activities, all our attention is directed in this direction.
"Audi entered Formula 1 to become a competitive member of the field. That will be true until we win, but also after. We think about long-term goals, we want to develop into a winning team and be a useful part of the sport. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport and it is fantastic that Audi has finally committed to this competition," said the Italian expert.
