Alonso, at 44, certainly doesn't look like he wants to give up. Almost every weekend he gets asked how long he's going to stay? His answer is always the same: a long time, because he's determined.
Alonso could be on the track at the age of 50, which in itself would be an exceptional record in the new era of Formula 1:
"When will I reach fifty? I don't know what and how it will be, so I'm leaving all the doors open. This year I definitely wanted to race, next year I want to be on the grid because of the changing rules. I want to try in 2026 and I wanted to wait for Honda to come. The addition of Adrian Newey gave this whole thing a huge plus and made it very accessible to extend the contract.
I am always ready to help my team, no matter what capacity they need me in. If they want me behind the wheel, I will be there, no matter my age! If I feel motivated and fast enough, there are no obstacles, otherwise I will be the first to raise my hand that it is over!
I am a little worried that the results on Sunday are not like before, but my motivation and hunger for success are not reduced. On the contrary! I am calm and determined, because it is a transitional period from which we can learn a lot. Now we are preparing so that one day we can stand at the starting line with dignity, if we have a car with a chance of the title. And that time will come, when the team is also ready, then I will be here.” - declared Fernando Alonso with a cool head.
